Symphony Orchestra - Chorus - Chamber Choir - Concert Band

The Concert Band is the newest ensemble in the society, it was formed last year under the direction of Charlie Connelly. They made a succesful debut finishing the year off with a concert joint with the Jazz Society and VOCE, UCLU's Gospel Choir. Their repertoire includes a range of pieces from Magnificent Men to selections from Carmen and music from the film Gladiator. The band is not auditioned, we hope to accomodate as many people as possible, anybody who plays a wind or brass instrument is welcome to join us.

We are also looking for anybody who is interested in conducting the band, there is no prior experience required, only a bit of enthusiasm. The current plan is to have a principle conductor and one or more deputy conductors and split rehearsals accordingly. We will also be able to provide a training session with our director of music, and professional conductor, Charles Peebles. Please email us or ask at a rehearsal if you would be interested in trying your hand with the baton.

The Concert Band is organised by two elected members, the Band Managers. This year's managers are Stephan Arif and Caitlin James. For queries about the band please contact them at . They are playing members in the band and as well as ensuring that the rehearsals and concerts run smoothly they are are a useful point of contact between society members and the committee.

Rehearsals take place on Thursday nights from 6.30-8.30pm in 114 Foster Court, please check our calendar for a list of rehearsals, concerts and perhaps most importantly social events.
