For information about joining the society please look at the individual ensemble page and check the FAQ section in in our Forum. If you can see a gap in our provisions please let us know. We have in the past formed various chamber groups for public performances and private functions.
As well as the four large ensembles we are happy to facilitate smaller groups, please contact us if you have an idea. We can provide rehearsal space and we can help to find you copies of the music (Senate House library is a good place to start) and also a performance opportunity. We have close links with UCL Chamber Music Club who put on regular performances of chamber music and are always on the look out for willing performers. For more information about the club take a look at their website at www.ucl.ac.uk/chamber-music.
The UCLU Music Society is not just about rehearsals and performance. It can also offer you plenty of opportunities to take part in, or lead your own music based volunteering projects. Throughout the year there will be a range of activities to get involved in, ranging from one-off carol singing and fundraising events, to projects aimed at engaging the wider public with classical music that will take place over several weeks. If you'd like to find out more, or want to discuss and develop your own ideas for volunteering projects, please email us at uclumusicsoc.volunteering@ymail.com
In addition to the ensembles there are other services and opportunities that the society can provide, and we are more than happy to add to these if there is enough interest, so please let us know if there's something you think is missing.
If you are a pianist there are limited opportunities within ensembles, however the Union can provide practice rooms. To use a practice room please visit the CSC reception on the second floor of the Bloomsbury building with your UCL ID. We can also keep your details in a database if you like, as we occasionlly get requests from the public for pianists for social functions. If you would be interested in the being listed in our database please let us know at our general enquiries address given below. In addition we make use of accompanists throughout the year, if you are an experienced accompanist and would be interested in doing some work for us please email us at our general enquiries address and we will let you know if we need anybody and/or keep your details for the future.
If you would like to be involved but are not a playing member there are lots of important jobs that need doing in the run up to the Opera in March. A search for funding begins in the previous April starting off a year of preparation for the final performance and we also do a lot of marketing work. If you would like to be involved please email the general enquiries address which is given at the bottom of the page.
